Udupi: After continues rain in many parts Udupi has caused the people their to face huge loss. The rain which continued for 2 consecutive days on Saturday and Sunday led to flood in many places. However the rain has stopped now but it has affected the properties of local people very badly.

It has been estimated that a total of 100 crores loss has been found. But the approximate estimation is not out yet. Even the stay water may cause disease in those parts and the District Commissner informed about the same.

The rain has affected a total of 32 houses and about 199.2 hectares of agricultural land. Due to the cyclone in Bay of Bengal, the Climate officials have released a red alert in the district. It is said that the rain may continue for the next four days. Also in some parts of Udupi the rain has restarted and has made the Udupians get tensed again.

Dakshina Kannada, Shimoga, Udupi and Uttar Kannada are however given red alert. However the ruling party leaders have said that emergency fund will released soon. And have promised the localities to stay strong and fight against the flood.

Minister for Fisheries, Ports, Inland Transport and Endowment Kota Srinivasa Poojary told that three fishing boats in Malpe area in Udupi district had capsized. However, 12 fishermen in them swam to safety. In addition, two more fishing boats were damaged in the same area.

Several people were stranded in houses in Malpe, Bairampally, Kukkehalli, Bailakere and Heranje areas in Udupi district as flood water entered the houses in those areas. The district administration is in the process of evacuating the stranded people, the minister said.
