TAVI stands for Transcatheter Aortic Valve Implantation. This is an interventional method same like angioplasty. In this method a crimped valve is put in the aortic position through a small puncture in the groin without major surgery or incisions on the chest.

However you need to know about TAVI. This method is performed in the Cath Lab. But this method depends upon the patient who is undergoing this surgery. After that the doctor will give you an anaesthesia. But this can make you feel asleep completely or partially.

Also you can be awake as some types anaesthesia will help you to relax and bear pain. Moreover your heart will continue beating during the whole process. But you need to know that this is completely different from the normal open heart surgery. As in it the heart will stop pumping. And you will be placed on a heart and lung blood machine.

Aortic stenosis (AS)

This is one of the most common degenerative valvular heart disease. Which is currently faced by the whole world. Studies sat that it affects about 2 % of people who are over 65 years of age. Also who have symptoms, without repair the chance of death at five years is about 50 % and at 10 years is about 90%.

You should know that the survival chance of a AS affected patient is very low after 1 heart failure. The least chance is that the patient will survive only for 1.5-2 years at maximum. Also there are many incidents in which sudden cardiac death has been seen at maximum.

AS ranging around 34 % when compared to asymptomatic severe AS 1 %. Hence symptomatic severe AS patients are prone to develop sudden cardiac arrest during hospital stay awaiting aortic valve replacement and are also difficult to revive. So TAVI is one of the best method for AS.
