The amazing scenes, captured of the desert town of Ain Sefra in Algeria, show snow covering the dry sand dunes of the desert.
Ain Sefra is called the gateway to the Sahara Desert. It is located 1000 m above the sea level.
And flanked by the Atlas mountains.
Extreme weather made its way to Africa and the Middle East, and the temperature dropped below freezing point. Some parts of the Sahara Desert are receiving snow.
As the mercury hit -2 degree Celsius, snow blanketed parts of Saudi Arabia.On the other hand, some areas of Saudi Arabia also received light snow, which came as a sweet surprise to the locals.
It is said that for the first time in 50 years that the minimum temperature fell so low.
And this phenomenon has occurred only thrice in the last four decades. 2017 was the last time it was seen.
