In the Pokémon series, choosing Pokémon starters is the first step in a trainer’s journey. The choices are normally divided into three categories: Grass, Fire, and Water. Each of the eight Pokémon regions has its own starter species. And most of them are very cute in their basic, pre-evolve states. While choosing a starter solely on the basis of appearance can lead to type conflicts in battle later on. Choosing a companion who a trainer finds personally appealing will make the journey through the Pokémon region more enjoyable.

Pokémon

There are currently 25 starter Pokémon available, including the electric mouse Pikachu. Some starters, such as Charmander, Bulbasaur, and Squirtle, have a special place in the hearts of fans due to their long-term contributions to the Pokémon franchise. Others, such as the Galarian starters, have only been with the series for a short time and are still establishing a fan base. Despite this, in comparison to previous generations, recent regions such as Galar and Alola have had some especially cute starters to pair up with.

Pokémon Starters: Turtwig

Pokémon

Turtwig is the Sinnoh region’s Grass-type starter in Pokémon Black and White. This tiny turtle, which resembles a Bulbasaur clone, seems to be lacking in originality. Nothing would be missed if it were swapped with Kanto’s starter, from its four-legged stance to the sprout on its head. Despite this, Turtwig has a cute style, with big eyes and a sharp turtle beak that gives it an endearing expression.

Pokémon Starters: Popplio

Pokémon

Popplio is the Alola region’s Water-type starter in Pokémon Sun and Moon. This tiny seal is adorable. Popplio is a perfect choice for those who like Water-types with special appearances because of its circus act of spinning a ball of water on its nose. However, some Pokémon fans might find it irritating and choose it only for its elegant final evolution, Primarina.

Pokémon Starters: Snivy

In Pokémon Black and White, Snivy is the Grass-type starter for the Unova field. Snivy is a graceful Pokémon. It is made up of smooth lines and elegant points even in its most simple form. Snivy may be the ideal Pokémon for fans of powerful Pokémon like Milotic, since its final evolution is the powerful serpent Pokémon Serperior. Regardless, Snivy isn’t especially endearing.

Pokémon Starters: Chespin

In Pokémon X and Y, Chespin is the Grass-type starter for the Kalos field. Chespin, who may be based on a hedgehog, is a cute character. Its eyes are tiny and black, and its nose is shaped like a triangle. Chespin is popular in the X and Y anime for getting up to trouble in order to steal sweets. Chespin’s cute appearance is sadly lost as it transforms into Chesnaught, who is very hideous.

Pokémon Starters: Grookey

Pokémon

Grookey is a Grass-type starter in Pokémon Sword and Shield’s Galar field. Grookey is perhaps the cutest of all the monkey-inspired Pokémon. The tiny monkey is an adorable pet with an orange muzzle and little brown ears. Rillaboom, the drum-slamming ape, is Grookey’s final evolution. Those who vote for Grookey will get to see Rillaboom play a full drum set when the band Gigantamaxes.
