Anthony Mackie would like to clarify that Falcon has America’s butt, not Captain America. Despite what Avengers: Endgame would have fans believe. In Captain America: The Winter Soldier, Mackie first entered the Marvel Cinematic Universe. And rapidly became one of Captain America’s best friends. As well as Anthony Mackie and Chris Evans, who starred together in five MCU films. The relationship spread off-screen and became close (even after Evans spoiled the ending of Endgame for Mackie). However, there is still room for some’ technical’ rivalry.
Tony Stark, Steve Rogers, and Scott Lang journey back in time to the Battle of New York for Infinity Stones. In an instant classic scene from Avengers: Endgame. As Tony watches Captain America’s 2012 age, he jokes to Steve his old superhero suit did nothing for his physique. To which Scott responds, “As far as I’m concerned, that’s America’s ass”. While later battling a former version of himself, future Steve pauses to take a look. And he admits, “That is America’s ass”. The scene has become a fan favorite, particularly for the shocking and hilarious Steve’s. Now, though, it seems Mackie disagrees with Steve’s evaluation.

Speaking to KFC Radio, Anthony Mackie wanted everyone to know he really is the Avenger with the best butt. And he is worthy of the title “America’s ass.”:
Chris and I laugh and joke about it all the time. I have a much better ass than Chris Evans. So one day we’re gonna do the biking shorts test, or the compression shorts test. And we’re gonna have everybody choose, which is America’s ass. I think it’s gonna be a 50/50 split. Some people like their pizza lightly toasted. Some people like a little bit of char on their pizza, you know what I’m saying? So it’s all about how you like your buns cooked.
Although most fans thought that when Old Man Cap passes on the shield to Sam after the end of Avengers: Endgame, that would mean he will be the new Captain America, Anthony Mackie is not so sure of that saying, “at no point in time, did [Falcon] agree to or say that [he] would be Captain America.” With the upcoming Disney+ series The Falcon and the Win, audiences will find out exactly what that means. The role of Falcon in the show could help settle the dispute once and for all about who has “America’s ass”.
Don’t rule out Steve just yet, however. It was announced this week that Marvel Studios and Evans are working out a contract that would get him back for potential MCU projects. It is unclear if Mackie’s Falcon is included in any of these. While it is fairly normal for actors to be unable to comment on castings until confirmed. Fans will have to wait a little longer to see whether Falcon or Captain America have the superior superhero seat on film. It is also worth noting that Evans later posted a cryptic message on social media, saying “news to me”. Nonetheless, Anthony Mackie seems able to put his money where his mouth is one day with a proper exam, complete with bike shorts.
